Decoding serial protocols in ISM or other simulation tools

I am writing a verilog code that is suppose to send some uart messages and i would like to verify that the output is correct by simulating it.
Is it possible to decode serial protocols in ISIM or any other simulation tool ?
Any advice on how to verify/debug serial protocols code in simulation is welcome

As far as I know, it doesn't have an analyzer for this. I usually just look at it to see if it matches what I expect. Or if possible I use my logic analyzer to check the actual signals produced from the FPGA. Saleae's interface does have analyzers for this stuff too which is nice.

Have you tried putting a second UART interface in your test bench to verify how it interprets what you are generating? I believe Xilinx has a UART core in Coregen, perhaps you could use it in your test bench so you aren't testing with the same UART core.
