Implementation of JOP

Post by hanut » November 2nd, 2015, 2:45 am

Hi,
I was planning to take up a project, which includes data processing which I was planning to do via Java. For that, I first planned to interface the mojo with a RPi when i found that there is an IP core, JOP (Java Optimized Processor) for the same. I can however not find the implementation for the same and would really appreciate some help with this.

Thanks! :D

You're probably better off interfacing with a RPi. The FPGA on the Mojo isn't a monster and has fairly limited RAM once you start to try and jam a full processor in there, especially a Java one. It's likely to be way more a headache than it's worth and will probably drastically under-perform compared to the RPi for processing Java.

That being said, depending on what "data processing" you plan to do, you might be able to do it a ton faster/more efficient with a design specific to what your doing (ie use the FPGA for what it's best at).

Thanks for the headsup.
This was in line with what i have read on other links and have decided to go forward with interfacing the Mojo with the RPi.

Thanks a lot!
